LAB GROWN DIAMONDS
Lab mined diamonds (also known as lab created diamonds, man made diamonds, engineered diamonds, and cultured diamonds) have the exact same chemical, physical and optical features as a natural stone. The only thing that makes a lab-mined diamond different from a natural diamond is its origin.
A lab-created diamond is “grown” inside a lab using cutting-edge technology that replicates the natural diamond growing process. These diamonds are grown in highly controlled laboratory environments that duplicate the conditions under which diamonds naturally develop when they form in the mantle, beneath the Earth’s crust.
Laboratory-grown diamonds appear identical to natural diamonds to the unaided eye and typically require testing by a laboratory with advanced instruments to be identified. They have the same sparkle, have a variety of the same types of color, clarity, and carat weights, and can be cut into all of the same shapes. They are also just as hard and durable as mined diamonds.
How are lab grown diamonds graded?
Lab-created diamonds are graded and certified using the same process as mined diamonds. The process for grading lab grown diamonds is the same as traditional diamonds and focuses on the cut, clarity, carat, and color of each gemstone.
Each diamond is graded independently by several gemologists at the lab. The individual grades are compiled and analyzed to determine the final grade.
